Overview
A City of Montevideo garden project under the motto "sowing the neighbourhood, harvesting community". At the Espacio Modelo garden, students work the beds while discussing the environment, water use, recycling and citizen innovation.
Citizen participation
Students from the neighbouring Liceo 64 take part, using the garden as a "living classroom". Sessions are designed with design-thinking and co-creation methods, in a playful, participatory format.
Operating model
Run by Montevideo LAB, the city's urban-innovation arm, as a public programme.
Impact
It is aligned with the city's "City for Childhood and Adolescence" diagnostic report, aiming to strengthen adolescents' right to occupy public space, learning by doing, and links between public institutions. In 2025 more than 90 students took part with Liceo 64.
