パム・ウォーハースト / Pam Warhurst

Pam Warhurst CBE (born 1950) is a British community leader. Spurred by concern about climate change, in 2008 she and Mary Clear started 'Incredible Edible' in the town of Todmorden, West Yorkshire.

Rather than wait for permission, they planted vegetables and herbs in public space — outside the station, the health centre, in roadside beds — with signs reading 'Food for free.' Through this 'propaganda planting,' action over permission, they reconnected people through food.

The small-town experiment resonated, spreading to about 150 groups in the UK and over 1,000 worldwide. Citizens repurposing public land for food has become emblematic of how today's urban farming reframes the relationship between government, residents and business.
