A study framing urban agriculture as a practice in which women play a leading role, testing this argument through a set of gardens in Vienna and Lisbon plus 29 relevant cases in Portugal. Results showed a favorable evolution toward greater presence of women in the gardens, a dominance of women across the analyzed practices as managers or activity organizers, and the emergence of women in social entrepreneurship projects.
