An anthropological reflection on urban gardening through the lens of citizenship
Robin Smith
Urban Farm DB summary
This chapter analyzes the concept of food citizenship within urban gardening from an anthropological perspective. Urban gardens fulfill local needs in many communities, from widening food access to serving as an avenue for engagement in food politics. It is also shown that urban gardens can be understood as autonomous spaces that governance regimes struggle to bring under their purview.
