Urban Farm DB summary
This study investigated American community gardens, particularly in San Francisco, to define their concept in Japan where activities to create community gardens are emerging. It found that while American community gardens are superficially similar to Japanese citizen farms, their operational methods differ significantly. The role of coordinators, chosen by participating citizens, greatly influences the environmental formation of local communities in these gardens.
