Community gardens support stress coping and health – A comparison of rural and urban perceptions of benefits

This study analyzed 34 in-depth interviews with rural and urban community garden organizers across the United States to compare perceptions of health benefits. Rural participants emphasized the holistic community orientation of their gardens, while urban participants highlighted their gardens as natural spaces and a driver for interacting with nature. The findings demonstrate varying impacts of community gardens in rural and urban settings.
