Urban Farm DB summary
This study measures atmospheric pollutants, microclimatic factors, and the physiological response and yield of vegetable crops across an urban-to-rural transect of six sites in the greater Chicago region, aiming to determine their relative influence on urban food production. Preliminary 2013 data suggest substantial variability in environmental factors and crop yield across the transect, and the work aims to establish practical crop and cultivar recommendations for urban and peri-urban farmers in the North Central US.
