Builds a database of home values, structure costs and land values for 46 large US metropolitan areas from 1984 to 2004, and shows the land share of a home's market value rose from about 32 percent in 1984 to about 50 percent by 2004. Reports that since 1998 nearly all large US cities saw substantial real increases in residential land prices.
