Urban Farm DB summary
This study explored the concept and desirable direction for Korean community gardens through Japanese case studies, semantic network analysis, field investigations, and an expert questionnaire survey. Semantic network analysis revealed that urban agriculture keywords focused on cultivation and economic effects, while community garden keywords centered on residents, exchanges, and community formation, suggesting a need for clear definitions. The study proposed a broad definition of Korean community gardens as vegetable gardening, categorizing them into four types: neighborhood, unused land utilization, housing complex, and foothold connection. A narrow definition, centered on horticulture, introduced the 'Nuri garden' with four sub-types: Nuri Participation, Nuri Sharing, Nuri Sympathy, and Nuri Loan garden. Expert surveys indicated a preference for joint cultivation types within residential areas, within walking distance, and with open designs.
