Urban Farm DB summary

This article examines consumer engagement in community-supported agriculture (CSA) programmes, an alternative direct-selling model, using ethnographic fieldwork and cultural theory as an anthropological analytical framework. It finds that CSA programmes function as "community enclaves" operating outside of and against the conventional market, and that different cultures coexist within the broader CSA movement. This diversity of worldviews generates tensions, but their complementarity is described as proving positive for the movement.
