This study developed and pilot-tested the Yéego school garden intervention for Navajo elementary school children to address childhood obesity. Formative research with students, caregivers, and school staff informed the intervention, which included a school garden and a yearlong curriculum on gardening and healthy eating. The research highlighted the importance of incorporating Diné culture, traditional growing practices, and traditional food preparation, as well as aligning the curriculum with state and Diné educational standards.
