Urban Farm DB summary
This chapter discusses the form and function of public spaces in post-apartheid South African cities. It analyzes six main groups of spaces, including parks, botanical gardens, urban agriculture, plazas, common open spaces in gated developments, and streets. The chapter indicates that the changing form and nature of these spaces give rise to four main trends: privatization, celebration, revitalization, and informalization.
