Indonesian politician Ridwan Kamil (born 1971) served as mayor of Bandung from 2013 to 2018. Before becoming mayor, he was a pioneer of the 'Indonesia Berkebun' (Gardening Indonesia) urban farming movement, which had grown to 14 cities with about 4,000 members by 2011. As mayor, he also worked pro bono on creating public open spaces in crowded residential areas of Bandung.
