Based on a national survey of and interviews with US urban farmers, this article explores their challenges and technical-assistance needs. It characterizes the sector as one of young, recently established farms and farmers, with profitability, financing, and production costs rated the highest challenges, and reports moderate-to-high technical assistance needs in areas that Extension staff can address.
