Overview
A social urban farm in Malmö's Rosengård district that uses food and farming for ecological, economic and social sustainability, linking the inclusion of immigrants with the training of a new generation of urban farmers.
Citizen participation
Families with new and long-standing roots in Sweden tend small plots together. In the kitchen, men and women born outside Sweden gain skills that lead to restaurant traineeships, and in 2019 the site opened Sweden's first training farm for urban growers.
Operating model
A social enterprise combining a bio-intensive / SPIN market garden (profitable on a small area) with training, gastronomy, events and the sale of affordable local organic food.
Impact
Creates a route into work and participation for immigrants, launches new market gardeners and supplies the neighbourhood with green space, connection and affordable organic food — a model of socially-driven urban farming.
Land tenure
Run from a historic house and surrounding land acquired and renovated by the founder.
