Overview
A permaculture garden run jointly by the environmental NGO Fondacioni Jeshil and SOS Children's Villages Kosovo. Phase one built roughly 100 sq m of raised beds with drip irrigation and planted 90 trees; phase two adds a staple-crop plot for potatoes plus fruit trees and berry bushes, feeding the residential site while serving as a local model.
Citizen participation
Young people living at the SOS Children's Village take part in the growing work and pick up skills. Once complete, the site is intended to open as a learnscape where schoolchildren of all ages from Pristina come for experiential learning.
Operating model
Build-out is funded by crowdfunding. The phase-two expansion sought €10,555 and closed having raised €8,900.14, or 84.32 per cent of the goal. Produce covers part of the food needs of the SOS Children's Village.
Impact
The garden already covers part of the village's food needs, and the organisers present it as a model that individuals, community groups and other organisations can copy. Participant numbers and yields are not published.
