Overview
An approximately 8-acre urban farm regenerating neglected land in central Kuala Lumpur. Addressing the climate crisis, lack of open space and food insecurity, its harvest is donated to soup kitchens and the underprivileged. In 2022 DBKL recognised it as a model community garden under LA21KL.
Citizen participation
A non-profit community farm and urban park started in 2017 by landscape architect Ng Sek San. Citizen volunteers join planting, tending and harvesting, and the site is free to enter for anyone Tuesday to Sunday.
Operating model
Non-profit model run on donations and volunteers. The idle land under power lines is operated as a model community garden coordinated under Kuala Lumpur City Hall's (DBKL) Local Agenda 21 (LA21KL) framework.
Impact
Provides a model of urban public green space where citizens gather, contributes to food relief through harvest donations, and has become a flagship of Malaysia's community-garden movement.
