Potage-Toit rooftop garden (Brussels, Belgium)

An experimental, participatory garden on a Brussels rooftop. It is worked as a natural but intensive garden, mixing vegetables, aromatic plants and small fruits for eating with wild and indigenous species for biodiversity on the same roof. Le Début des Haricots asbl, which runs it, also supports the founding of collective gardens across the city through Brussels Environment's "Inspirons le Quartier" call, so this rooftop is where the organisation tries things out itself. Belgium was previously represented in this database only by Chant des Cailles in Brussels, so this adds a different kind of space — a roof.

Run as an experimental and participatory rooftop vegetable garden, planted with vegetables, aromatic plants and small fruits alongside wild and indigenous species chosen to favour biodiversity.
