In Kelurahan Gading, Surabaya, Indonesia, an integrated smart urban farming application was proposed to address limited urban land and suboptimal greenhouse management. This solution involves developing freshwater fish farming, specifically catfish, combined with vegetable cultivation like water spinach and pakcoy, to provide additional economic opportunities and meet community nutritional needs.

A qualitative study in Palembang City, Bandung City, and Denpasar City, Indonesia, explored the interconnection of urban farming and urbanization in realizing sustainable urban development. The research collected data through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation from 30 urban farming actors, 10 from each city, selected via purposive sampling. Analysis revealed a positive interrelation between urban farming and urbanization across nine dimensions: economy, social, environment, health, culture, food, education, tourism, and technology, indicating that urban farming's positive impacts can minimize urbanization's negative impacts.

A community service program in Kebonbatur Village, Indonesia, introduced the BUDIKDAMBER system (fish and vegetable cultivation in buckets) to residents of RT 01 RW III to optimize limited yard space for food security. The program provided training and intensive mentoring on urban farming techniques. This initiative successfully raised residents' awareness and skills in utilizing limited space for self-reliant food security, leading to active participation, satisfaction with harvest results, and new economic opportunities.

A community service program in Murukan Village, Indonesia, focused on optimizing dairy farm waste utilization to improve agricultural land quality in an urban farming context. The program provided training on making liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from dairy farm waste. The activity successfully increased the local community's understanding and skills in waste management.

A qualitative study in the Banjar Wijaya residential area, Cluster Italy, Tangerang City, Indonesia, analyzed mutual cooperation in environmental management through literature reviews and in-depth interviews with the RW chairman, residents, and tourists. The research found that residents, initially passive, became active in environmental management, including urban farming and developing Lake Kalpataru tourism, due to the RW chairman's example and heightened awareness of environmental conditions.

A training session on making polybag planting media was held on June 3, 2023, in Sanggrahan, Central Java, for women from PKK RT 05 RW 18. The activity aimed to teach urban agriculture using polybags to address limited land, enabling residents to grow vegetables and reduce household expenses. Participants learned to create planting media from humus soil, compost, and husk charcoal (1:1:1 ratio) for optimal plant growth.

Perancangan UI/UX Prototipe Website RFC Telkom University Surabaya Menggunakan Metode Lean UX

This study designed a UI/UX website prototype for the Rooftop Farming Center (RFC) at Telkom University Surabaya, Indonesia, using the Lean UX method. The RFC, which utilizes smart urban farming with IoT, faced challenges in stock information, sales reach, and research data due to conventional sales methods. The designed prototype was evaluated using thinking aloud and the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire, achieving scores of 81.4 for the customer interface and 85 for the admin interface. Black box testing confirmed that all system features functioned well.

This study conducted a bibliometric analysis to chart the evolution of urban agricultural research trends and the links between scientific concepts in Indonesia from 2008 to 2022. Based on data collected from the Scopus database using the keyword "urban farming," 169 publications related to Indonesia were identified. The number of urban farming-related articles has fluctuated over the last 10 years, and the expansion of keyword-based research establishes a connection between agribusiness and social entrepreneurship as scientific notions.

This study investigated how spatial and temporal crop changes relate to bird diversity and traits in small peri-urban agricultural lands in Guangzhou, a sub-tropical city in China. Bird and crop data were collected approximately bimonthly from December 2021 to October 2022. Both overall crop diversity (alpha diversity) and seasonal crop changes (beta diversity) were positively associated with bird Shannon-Wiener diversity. Woody vegetation cover positively affected all three bird diversity indices, while plant/seed-eating bird abundance was negatively associated with alpha crop diversity, and ground-foraging bird abundance was positively associated with beta crop diversity.

This study implemented training and assistance activities for sustainable food supply through the utilization of home gardens as a new adaptation of urban farming in Bandung City. The results showed that community members were very enthusiastic about implementing sustainable food supply activities through garden utilization. Urban farming activities are accepted by the community due to increasing food demand in urban areas.

This abstract discusses how buildings significantly contribute to global warming and environmental degradation throughout their life cycle. It highlights issues such as environmentally unfriendly material selection, energy-inefficient designs, carbon emissions during construction, and habitat damage. The abstract concludes that a more sustainable approach in architecture and construction is necessary to mitigate these negative impacts.

A study in the peri-urban area of Raigad District, India, surveyed 100 farmers using an ex-post facto research design and personal interviews. Findings showed that 62% of farmers were aged 40-58, 36% had secondary education, and 78% had a medium family size. Additionally, 60% had medium farming experience, 33% had marginal land holdings, and 36% were engaged in agriculture.

A study in Kampung Samtama, Central Jakarta, Indonesia, surveyed 58 residents to assess their participation level in an urban farming program. Participation was measured across planning, implementation, utilization of results, and evaluation stages. The findings indicated a high overall community participation level (78.25), with the utilization of results stage scoring highest and the evaluation stage scoring lowest among all stages.

This qualitative study in Bengaluru, India, investigated how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiatives can enhance urban agriculture's productivity, sustainability, and inclusivity. Data was collected through stakeholder interviews, extensive field observations, and a comprehensive review of pertinent literature. Findings indicated that ICT initiatives have transformative potential in addressing key challenges encountered in urban agriculture in Bengaluru, such as limited access to information, inadequate market linkages, and constrained financial resources. Specifically, ICT was found to optimize crop management practices, foster stronger market connections, facilitate financial access, and promote social inclusivity within urban agricultural systems.

This study investigated the experiences of current Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members in China, focusing on factors influencing their retention intentions. Using a convergent parallel mixed methods approach, it analyzed quantitative data on retention factors and qualitative data from member interviews. Findings indicate that convenience, product quality, and positive interactions are pivotal factors contributing to members' intentions to continue their CSA memberships.

A hydroponic garden at KRPL Tambakrejo in Surabaya, Indonesia, was dysfunctional due to water supply difficulties, rat infestations, limited electricity, and suboptimal marketing. Through a community development initiative, the conventional hydroponic garden was transformed into an IoT-based, solar-powered smart hydroponic garden. This transformation resulted in a minimum annual profit of IDR 4,032,000, significantly reduced electricity consumption, enabled internet-based monitoring, and eliminated rat pests.

A community-based early childhood development program in PAUD Kenanga Mekar Asri Semarang aimed to promote growth and development through counseling, mentoring, and training, including a catfish/tilapia program and urban farming. The study found that 70% of the children developed according to age, 30% had suspect development, and only 1 child (5%) was underweight, with no children found to be stunted.

This study in Surabaya City, Indonesia, used a qualitative descriptive approach to characterize the composting process and compost from recycling centers. Composting materials included household waste, market refuse, and fall foliage, processed in an open aerobic system without bio-activators. Chemical analysis showed C/N ratio (17.10-19.60), C-total (17.65%-18.10%), and N-total (0.95%-1.12%), among other elements. While visually mature, indicators such as C/N ratio and temperature suggested an immature state, rendering the compost unsuitable for immediate planting; storage for a minimum of one month was recommended for maturation.

This study implemented school garden creation and environmental awareness activities for 27 students at a school in West Java. Environmental awareness was measured using questionnaires before and after the activities. Results showed that students recognized the benefits of the school garden, leading to an increase in the average environmental awareness score across all evaluated aspects.

In Fujian Province, China, marginal agricultural abatement costs were estimated based on 2010–2020 data, and the potential for agricultural carbon emissions reduction was assessed using an index model considering equity and efficiency. Marginal abatement costs showed regional disparity, ranging from EUR 0.6526 × 10^8 to EUR 1.3771 × 10^8 per 10^4 tonnes, with general upward inter-annual trends. The assessment revealed four distinct developmental tiers for carbon emissions reduction potential.

This study investigated whether green roof soil, originally artificial, could evolve into natural soil suitable for urban agriculture over time. Researchers analyzed the composition of rooftop greening soil from a 20-year-old testbed at KICT in South Korea. The analysis revealed that the rooftop greening soil had gradually transformed into natural soil, confirming that long-term maintained rooftop greening on artificial grounds can evolve into an environment quantitatively similar to natural soil.

This mixed-methods study assessed the effectiveness of the Micro Urban Food Forest Campaign at Masagi Koffee, Bandung, Indonesia, in enhancing environmental sustainability and community involvement. While the initiative moderately succeeded in raising environmental awareness among participants, it faced problems in achieving consistent community participation. Logistic regression analysis identified awareness and knowledge as significant predictors of sustainability practice, indicating a need for targeted strategies to foster behavioral change.

The Code Hijau Asri Farmer Group in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, consisting of 36 members, faced limitations in processing their urban farming products, Brazilian spinach and catfish, for income generation. A training program was conducted to enhance their skills in processing, packaging, and branding these products. The training resulted in 100% participant satisfaction with the content and practice, and 75% expressed interest in developing culinary businesses from the processed products, indicating an increase in the group's capacity.

This research investigated the profile of original scientific articles and reviews on urban farming in Indonesia from 1991 to 2023 using bibliometric analysis. A total of 81 journals from Scopus were analyzed, identifying 160 authors. The number of published articles continuously increased from 1991 to 2023, with the majority written in English. The most cited article was “Aquaculture Research” with a 10-year quotation. Visualization analysis based on the accuracy of connected words in titles and abstracts revealed several research groups.
