This study focused on utilizing non-domestic waste, such as coconut husks, used paper, and wood, as base materials for kokedama. It involved collecting waste from local communities, processing it into kokedama planting media, and providing training on kokedama techniques. The training was shown to reduce waste volume, empower participants with new skills, and increase their potential income, thereby improving economic and social well-being.

This community service program in Ciamis Regency, Indonesia, focused on food forest research to combat heart disease by increasing public knowledge and awareness of healthy eating and developing food forests as a nutritional source. The program successfully raised community awareness and improved access to food sources, positively impacting heart health. It significantly contributed to improving the heart health of the local community in the Baregbeg Community Health Center working area.

An urban farming support program in the Murukan village community in Indonesia used the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method to design, manufacture, and implement an automatic watering tool. The program resulted in a 50% improvement in participants' basic knowledge, a 60% improvement in practical abilities, and a 70% improvement in technical skills. Additionally, participant confidence improved by 40%, productivity by 55%, and tool usage efficiency by 65%.

This study explored the framing of urban agricultural knowledge disseminated via social media and factors influencing satisfaction among experienced viewers in Thailand. It analyzed eleven clips from the Sustainable Agriculture Foundation (Thailand) on Facebook and YouTube using a coding framework and content analysis. A survey of 200 viewers was conducted and analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0. Key results showed that leading farmers framed messages by explaining actions, reasoning, outcomes, and associated health benefits. Source credibility and information quality significantly influenced satisfaction, as did self-efficacy, source credibility, and interactivity as moderating factors for knowledge satisfaction.

The activity aimed to increase the knowledge of young people in Banjarmasin City regarding urban farming, especially cultivation using the hydroponic wick system.

This study distinguished passive leisure, defined as rest for labor recovery, from positive leisure, defined as free labor for a new lifestyle. It observed that contemporary Chinese leisure remains largely passive, with activities such as tourism, healthcare, and dancing failing to constitute independent lifestyles, and phone browsing demonstrating fragmentation and passivity. In contrast, emerging positive leisure forms in society include craft workshops, urban farming, social media groups, and academic salons.

Mitigating Climate Change Towards Livable City (Case: Bandung City, West Java)

This qualitative-descriptive research explored various problems and impacts of climate change in Bandung City, West Java, Indonesia, as well as community mitigation efforts to reduce carbon emissions and create a livable city, through interviews and field observations in four urban village settlements. The study found several spatial and environmental problems hindering the achievement of a livable Bandung City. Community mitigation efforts included adding and managing green open spaces, independent waste management, managing Buruan sae (urban farming) programs and vertical gardens, creating bio pores and absorption wells, maintaining environmental cleanliness, and establishing collaboration with related institutions.

This research aimed to describe the internal and external factors influencing the development of urban farming communities in Kutisari Village, Surabaya City. A mixed-methods research approach collected data through observation, interviews, documentation, questionnaires, and literature studies. Research results indicated that internal factors included a middle education level, with most community members being male private employees aged 40-49. External factors regarding access to information and accountability were in a high category, while community participation was in a medium category.

This natural experiment in a Chinese neighborhood examined the effects of a community garden on health-related behaviors during the COVID-19 epidemic. Camera-based systematic observations, totaling 180 hours of video recordings (120 hours non-epidemic, 60 hours epidemic), assessed user numbers, physical activities, social interactions, and environmental engagement. Results showed a significant increase in total users during the epidemic, particularly females, older adults, and children, with sedentary and moderate physical activities also significantly higher. The community garden contributed more to physical activity like walking, but less to interactions between people or people-place interactions.

A framework integrating ecosystem service supply-demand and landscape ecological risk assessment was developed for urban planning in Beijing, China's plain area. This study quantified the supply and demand of five ecosystem services (biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration, water conservation, food production, and landscape recreation) and identified landscape ecological risks. Findings revealed an imbalance in total ecosystem service supply-demand and a high level of landscape ecological risk in Beijing's plain area, with protection priority areas accounting for 10.39% and restoration priority areas for 19.94% of the total area. Land use, distance to settlements, and vegetation cover were identified as primary influencing factors.

This study assessed the technical efficiency of wet-rice farming in Semarang City, Indonesia, using cross-sectional data from 68 respondents. It found that land area, seeds, NPK, urea, and pesticides are key determinants of rice production, and paddy rice cultivation in the city is technically efficient at 0.73. Formal education and off-farm income sources influenced technical inefficiency.

In Ludhiana city, India, a study investigated the prevalence of hand discomfort among 150 male gardeners from educational institutions, community gardens, and nurseries. Findings revealed that the comfort level for most respondents using gardening hand tools ranged from moderate to low, with increased pain and discomfort reported after using certain tools. The Cornell Hand Discomfort questionnaire showed that the majority experienced slight to moderate pain and discomfort in different hand regions, which interfered with their work performance.

This qualitative study examined the development process, results, and influencing factors of the Hat Yai urban agricultural network for food security in Hat Yai City, Songkhla Province, Thailand. Data was collected from 31 participants through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and group discussions. The study identified a three-stage development process: network formation, seeking cooperation, and learning and integration, with results reflected at individual, group, and network levels linked to sustainable development. Negative factors affecting the development process included the nature of Hat Yai urban residents in a developing country context, resource inadequacy, and public policy.

This program in Blitar City, Indonesia, focused on empowering the KWT Mblimbing Berseri women farmers' group through training and cultivation assistance for melon urban farming using polybags and drip irrigation. The implementation of IoT technology contributed to reduced pesticide use and nutrient savings, while also creating direct marketing opportunities via social media. These efforts led to increased farmer profits and the provision of fresher products to consumers.

This study evaluated the impact of urban farming modules on the urban heat island phenomenon in Ngampilan sub-district, Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. A 3D model was developed using Sketchup, and analysis was conducted with Envi-met software. The results showed that the urban farming module contributed to a reduction in mean radiant temperature (MRT) by up to 3.9 degrees Celsius in the surrounding area.

This research evaluated the sustainability of urban farming development in Petamburan, Central Jakarta, using a descriptive qualitative methodology and Multi Dimension Scaling (MDS) approach. While urban residents generally have knowledge and support for urban agriculture, the analysis of four dimensions (ecological, economic, social, technological) indicated that urban farming in Petamburan is not sustainable. The sustainability index was very low, categorized as destructive and unsustainable across ecological (14.55%), economic (13.85%), social (13.94%), and technological (13.43%) dimensions.

This study aims to devise strategies for structuring culinary tourism in Kampung Surokarsan, Indonesia, a densely populated area where the "Code Hijau Asri" farmer group uses urban farming to enhance welfare. Despite a new embankment offering views of Kali Code's banks, residents have not yet utilized the area for tourism. Using field observations, interviews, literature review, and SWOT analysis, the study formulated a tourism strategy based on the 5A approaches (Attractions, Activities, Accessibility, Facilities, Accommodation), leveraging the urban farmer community and residents skilled in culinary businesses and Brazilian spinach cultivation. The strategy focuses on area entrance legibility, activity zoning, and showcasing attractions like sunset views and urban village ambience.

This qualitative study analyzed urban farming business innovation in Surabaya, Indonesia, using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) model across five Women Farming Groups (KWT) and Farmer Groups (Poktan). Findings showed that KWT Guyub Rukun had the lowest revenue, while Poktan Serpis had the highest. The study concluded that low revenue was due to income solely from crop sales and having only one main partner, indicating a limitation in revenue streams for some groups.

This research investigated the effect of nanosilica addition on red rice growth and yield using a factorial randomized block design with two varieties (Pamera, Pamelen) and five nanosilica concentrations. Applying nanosilica colloid at 15 mL L-1 to Pamera and Pamelen varieties increased plant length and tiller number, and accelerated flowering age. However, nanosilica had no effect on harvest age and yield components.

A study conducted in Chennai, India, from April to June 2023, assessed temperature dynamics on a building's terrace by comparing a well-maintained garden area with an exposed region using temperature and humidity sensors. Findings indicated a significant reduction in internal room temperatures in areas with rooftop gardens, ranging from 4 to 11 °C, compared to rooms with fully exposed roof configurations. Simulation studies suggested that optimizing soil beds and plant density could yield an additional 3-4 °C reduction, resulting in an overall difference of up to 14-15 °C.

This community engagement program in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, aimed to assess and improve public knowledge of urban agriculture among mothers at TPA Ikhlasul Makhfudz Women's School. Activities included planting assistance, training, and educational seminars on urban farming benefits, plant types, and composting. The program demonstrated benefits for daily life, such as improved nutrition, community cohesion, relaxation, and enhanced use of idle land.
