Overview
An organic community garden run by Sunshine Farm in Kitanakagusuku, reviving the traditional Okinawan home plot 'atai-guwa' as an edible garden. Across fields, a paddy and a plaza, residents of all ages grow vegetables, rice and herbs and share the harvest.
Citizen participation
People of all generations, from babies to grandparents in their late seventies, share the garden together; regular visitors tend their own plots while occasional visitors can still try growing crops. Members cook and hold BBQs with the harvest and invite friends to gather.
