Food Hub Project (Kamiyama)

A social enterprise in Kamiyama, Tokushima built on 'grow local, eat local,' passing the town's farming and food culture to the next generation. Through its canteen, bakery, processing and food education it creates a small 'grow–make–eat–connect' cycle that supports jobs, in-migration and community vitality.

Under the motto 'grow local, eat local,' townspeople engage through production, processing and eating. The project runs food-education activities linking nurseries through high schools and circulates Kamiyama ingredients locally via its canteen and bakery, building a system in which residents and newcomers support farming and food together.

A social enterprise run by a company co-funded by the town of Kamiyama, combining farm production, the 'Kamaya' canteen and 'Kama Pan & Store' bakery, processed-food development and food education, sustained by local food circulation (with a daily-measured 'locally-produced-and-eaten' rate).

Its use of Kamiyama-grown ingredients reaches about 60% (around 95% within the prefecture), making it a noted model that supports local farmers through eating and advances food education, jobs and in-migration in mountainous rural areas.
