Overview
Launched in February 2012 by RW 23 leader Bambang Irianto in Malang's Purwantoro area, 'Glintung Go Green (3G)' is a resident movement that transformed a flood-prone, crime- and sanitation-challenged kampung through alley-wall gardens, vertical farming and water-infiltration wells, achieving food security and environmental improvement.
Citizen participation
Initiated by RW leader Bambang Irianto, residents green and cultivate alley walls and home yards, reusing plastic bottles and building infiltration wells (biopori) through collective effort.
Operating model
Resident-led community movement; produce is used for daily consumption and partly sold, creating new economic opportunities, and the kampung has grown into a tourism destination.
Impact
Ended flooding, recharged groundwater and created green space. Growing vegetables on alley walls improved household food security and generated new income and tourism—a flagship participatory case.

GrowNYC Community Garden Green Infrastructure (rainwater & rain gardens)
