Overview
A 1960s Odakyu company-housing complex by Zama station, regenerated in 2015 into a mix of rentals, municipal housing and a childcare-support center. Its central plaza holds the guidance-supported 'Hatamusubi' rental garden and a dog run, aiming to be housing open to the community that links people, nature and town.
Citizen participation
Residents and locals rent plots in the central-plaza garden and grow vegetables with cultivation guidance; each plot has a 'Hatamusubi BOX' for tools so beginners can join empty-handed, and the annual 'Hoshinotani Market' opens the site to the wider community.
Operating model
A private railway (Odakyu) regenerated its 1960s company housing into a mix of market-rate rentals, municipal housing and public-benefit facilities; the garden uses MyFarm's experiential-farm system, sustained by plot fees, rents and community events as a public-private collaboration.
Impact
Drew attention as a place where young urbanites relocate for a life with gardening, becoming a station-front hub for local revitalization; the 'Hoshinotani Market', run with Zama City, has become a fixture of autumn in the town.
