Overview
A Hyderabad urban-farming scheme run by the Telangana Department of Horticulture that gives citizens subsidised kits to grow vegetables on their terraces. Kits include soil, manure and grow beds to help households build nutrition gardens.
Citizen participation
Home-owning citizens register a suitable terrace or backyard (50–200 sq ft) as a nutrition garden and receive a subsidised kit to grow vegetables. The state horticulture department teaches terrace-gardening know-how while households grow on their own.
Operating model
A state-government subsidy scheme: the government subsidises part of each kit (around Rs 360 of soil, manure, grow beds and bags) while the citizen contributes about Rs 1,200, in a cost-sharing model.

More than 4,000 kits have been distributed, with strong interest in areas like Uppal and Dilsukhnagar. It enables urban households to grow their own vegetables on terraces and supports kitchen-waste reuse and greening.
