Overview
Dodo's urban-farming centre on a former railway turntable in Helsinki's Pasila yard — an open hub with a greenhouse, café and gardens that has helped lead Finland's citizen-driven urban gardening movement.
Citizen participation
The environmental citizens' group Dodo grew from cultivating a strip of land between railway tracks into guerrilla gardening and urban beekeeping. The Turntable is run mainly by volunteers, who host communal gardening days, workshops, organic brunches and courses where residents learn urban farming and are inspired to take it to their own neighbourhoods.
Operating model
