Overview
A Prague social enterprise turning unused urban land into community gardens and composting hubs, spreading composting and gardening among citizens, businesses and government while offering work and inclusion to people with mental illness.
Citizen participation
A social enterprise conceived in 2010 and established in 2012. It turns unused city land into community gardens and runs composting awareness, workshops and consultations, and sells home composters. Through a work-training programme for people with schizophrenia, it opens the gardens as a place to join the community and take part in society.
Operating model
A social enterprise that builds community gardens and spreads composting, combining education, workshops, product sales, corporate collaboration and support for public bodies — pairing supported employment with environmental and community work.
Impact
Has spread Prague's urban gardening and composting culture to citizens, companies and government and helped other communities start their own gardens, becoming a leading Central European model that links resource cycling with supported employment.
