Overview
The Nagoya Agricultural Center (nicknamed 'dela Farm'), an agricultural park opened in 1965 and fully renovated in 2024, serves as a hub where residents deepen their understanding of farming through hands-on growing at its Citizen Garden and other municipal farms across the city.
Citizen participation
Residents rent plots in the Center's Citizen Garden to grow vegetables and flowers and deepen their knowledge of agriculture. The Center spreads farming techniques and bridges residents and agriculture; plots are also available at the city's other municipal farms (Ikoi, Community Farm, Bunkuen, etc.).
Operating model
A municipal agricultural park and farming-promotion facility; a designated manager handles recruitment/operation of the Citizen Garden. Run publicly under the slogan 'promoting farming life alongside the city', it bridges residents and agriculture.
Impact
For over half a century it has spread farming techniques and offered growing experiences, serving as the core facility for resident-farming contact and food education in the major city of Nagoya.
