A case where citizens turned an inner-city disused lot into a place for food and learning, built on three pillars — local food, education and community — aiming to make urban farming a normal part of city life.
Citizen participation
Sydney's only working urban farm, opened in 2016 on a disused lawn-bowls green. Residents take part through volunteering, composting and food-forest programmes and workshops, and can buy chemical-free local produce.
Operating model
A non-profit model funded by direct produce sales, workshops and events, in partnership with the Camperdown Commons community-rejuvenation project.
