This qualitative study used Participatory Action Research (PAR) to develop and refine an empowerment design for scavengers in an urban agriculture program. Conducted at Yayasan Swara Peduli Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia, data was collected through Focus Group Discussions, semi-structured interviews, observation, and literature review, with primary data from foundation administrators, farmer group members, and food security motivators. The research found that the empowerment design can be implemented, and the presence of food security motivators can increase scavengers' consistency in maintaining the agricultural cycle sustainably, addressing challenges faced by the foundation.

This community service activity aimed to enhance the capacity and social role of Senggigi residents, especially the TP-PKK women of Senggigi Village, as agents of change through the implementation of urban farming based on an Integrated Farming System (IFS). Carried out in Senggigi Village, West Lombok Regency, Indonesia, activities included socialization, training in horticultural cultivation (eggplant, chili, tomato, water spinach, pakcoy), poultry raising, and catfish farming through budikdamber and independent ponds, accompanied by intensive mentoring. During the mentoring process, significant social transformation was observed, reflected in increased motivation, commitment, and solidarity among members, alongside the development of technical cultivation skills and the initiative of TP-PKK women in implementing urban farming activities to improve family food security.

This activity aimed to increase awareness of food security through the implementation of urban farming among 4th-grade students at Mekarsari State Elementary School in Jatinangor, Indonesia. It was conducted in three stages: education, hydroponic urban farming practice, and game-based evaluation. The results showed improved student understanding of food security and urban farming concepts, successful hydroponic practice, and 100% student satisfaction.

This study surveyed 396 elementary school teachers and administrative staff in South Korea to assess the status and needs for eco-cycle school farm content. Among 323 teachers, 41.2% operated gardens, with "lack of space" (50.5%) being the main reason for non-operation. Teachers desired more diverse garden forms and higher budgets (KRW 600,000-1,000,000), and showed high demand for education on energy conservation and resource circulation.

This study, involving 88 farmers from Yogyakarta City, investigated the role and priority activities of agricultural extension workers using quantitative and qualitative methods. While farmers perceived success in social and technical roles, the study found that responsiveness and anticipation are critical aspects requiring strengthening to address the dynamics of urban agriculture.

This survey research in Pekanbaru City, Indonesia, identified characteristics of women farmers and their use of communication media and information sources in urban farming. Activeness in groups was a general characteristic. The use of communication media and information sources by women farmers was rated "very good" with a score of 4.39, with the highest score for communication media.

This community service activity aimed to make the neglected Wallet Urban Farming Garden in Sukun Village, Malang City, sustainable. Activities included cleaning, sorting polybags and adding growing media, fertilizing, planting green spinach and water spinach, watering, and improving facilities such as repairing information boards. The activity was carried out until the vegetable harvest period and was expected to help increase daily vegetable consumption for the local community.

Participatory extension training on potted vegetable cultivation and transplanting techniques was conducted at the Kapasari Indah Farmers Group in Surabaya, Indonesia, to improve farmers' food security skills. Pre- and post-tests showed a significant increase in understanding, with average scores rising from 22.73 to 88.18. However, the activity faced limitations due to its short duration and limited tools and materials.

A qualitative multi-site study across five elementary schools in West Java and Bali investigated an integrative model to improve the quality of basic education. The integration of contextual curricula increased learning motivation by 28%, and community participation through the "Parents' School" program reduced dropout rates by 15%. This three-week community service program in Tembok Dukuh District, Surabaya, aimed to enhance local residents' knowledge and skills in hydroponic urban farming. Participants, primarily women from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), received training in hydroponic concepts, simple installation construction, and vegetable planting and maintenance techniques. The program resulted in a significant improvement in participants' understanding of hydroponic systems and their ability to apply these techniques at home.

A community service program provided urban farming education and practical training in planting vegetables in polybags to 18 housewives in Cisempur Village, Jatinangor, Indonesia, from November to December 2024. Evaluation showed that 66.7% of participants found the program very useful for obtaining fresh vegetables without a yard, and 80% expressed interest in applying the knowledge. While the program increased knowledge and experience for personal fresh food supply, it had not yet provided tangible economic impact.

Hydroponics and mushroom cultivation were developed as innovative solutions, with socialization and education provided to residents on the benefits, materials, and steps for simple hydroponic installations.

A community service activity was implemented in Kelurahan Kepatihan Wetan, Surakarta City, Indonesia, to optimize limited land through a mini garden urban farming system. The activity successfully planted various vegetables in 100 polybags, achieving over 90% growth success. It resulted in increased knowledge and skills among residents in utilizing limited land and boosted community participation in urban agriculture, positively impacting household food self-sufficiency and family consumption cost savings.

An urban farming-based community engagement program was implemented for students at the Vocational School of Agriculture Labuhanbatu (SMK Negeri 2 Rantauprapat) in Indonesia. This participatory action research aimed to improve students' knowledge and practical skills in aquaponics, hydroponics, and integrated urban farming systems. Through training and collaborative activities, students' knowledge levels surged from pre-test benchmarks to over 70%, exceeding 90% in some areas, and over 80% expressed strong interest in curriculum integration and entrepreneurship.

This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of 15 participants from the Nusa Indah Women Farmers Group in Cirendeu, Indonesia, regarding microgreens cultivation. Microgreens were proposed as a solution for limited land in densely populated areas. The program, conducted on January 11, 2025, included initial surveys, program socialization, counseling, and mentoring. Evaluation showed a 20.15% increase in participants' knowledge and a 100% (very satisfied) partner satisfaction score.

This ecopreneurship program for university students at Universitas Bhayangkara Surabaya integrated urban farming practices with green business innovation by utilizing unused campus land for cultivating productive crops. The program enhanced ecological awareness, entrepreneurial skills, and the development of partnership networks with various stakeholders. Its implementation results indicated that urban farming ecopreneurship has significant potential to be replicated and developed as an innovative and contextual learning model with integrated social, economic, and ecological impacts.

This study evaluated the growth and yield parameters of different potato varieties grown in grow bags suitable for the North Indian Plains. Cultivated in grow bags with a soil, vermicompost, and cocopeat mixture (4:3:1), Kufri Chandramukhi yielded the highest (1037.50 g/bag) under Punjab conditions, followed by Diamond (908.26 g/bag). Kufri Chandramukhi successfully adapted to the constrained environment without pests or diseases, and the soil mixture helped increase tuber yield and decrease irrigation intervals.

This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the Melati Women Farmers Group (KWT Melati) in Tegal City, Indonesia, regarding the application of Internet of Things (IoT)-based Smartfarming Hydropro technology. The program used socialization, demonstration, and simulation of automatic watering with the Hydropro tool, which monitors and controls water and nutrient delivery for tomato plants. The results showed that the program successfully imparted knowledge on IoT, smartfarming, hydroponic tomato cultivation, and harvesting methods to the KWT Melati members.

This Participatory Action Research (PAR) study in Mayangan District, Probolinggo City, Indonesia, aimed to optimize vacant land use through oyster mushroom cultivation training for Muhammadiyah community members. The project, conducted in four stages (observation, planning, action, evaluation), demonstrated that oyster mushroom cultivation can be effectively done in limited spaces using organic waste. Evaluation showed 90% of participants were interested in implementing urban farming, with oyster mushrooms identified as a promising commodity due to their high economic value and strong local market potential.

While it provided positive economic impacts, the program faced challenges including limited access to agricultural inputs and post-program plant maintenance. Further research and continued mentoring were recommended to evaluate its effectiveness and maximize impact.

An experimental study conducted in Denpasar City with 96 students showed that the visual form, video duration, and language style of TikTok content increased Generation Z's knowledge of urban farming. Specifically, content combining a long-duration graphic visual form with a conversational language style resulted in the highest knowledge increase. Personal characteristics did not correlate with knowledge increase, but communication behavior, namely exposure to communication media, correlated with knowledge increase.

This community service program in Cemani Village, Grogol, Sukoharjo, aimed to empower women through Women Farmers Groups (KWT) and PKK activists, focusing on food security via urban farming. Activities included socializing superior seed planting, training in horticulture cultivation techniques, and distributing seeds. The program also introduced agrotourism to increase income through harvests and educational tourism. Results showed an increased understanding of sustainable cultivation techniques, but program sustainability requires further training, infrastructure development, routine monitoring, and collaboration among village government, universities, and BUMDes.

In Kelan Tourism Village, Bali, an integrated aquaponics biofloc urban farming model with drip irrigation for tilapia and vegetable gardens was implemented as edutourism. This initiative aimed to address the economic underperformance of culinary tourism due to external vegetable purchases despite available land. The implementation led to increased understanding and skills among target groups, students, and tourists regarding the urban farming model, and improved income for culinary businesses by reducing vegetable purchase leakages.
