In Sumare Village, Mamuju Regency, Indonesia, a community program was implemented to support farmer groups relying on traditional methods and facing high fertilizer costs and scarce seeds. The program aims to create new household and urban farming business units based on cocopeat, fostering additional income, informal employment, and strengthening food security. A coconut husk grinding machine for cocopeat production and a multifunctional grass chopper were introduced, contributing to environmental pollution reduction and providing an alternative growing medium.

A community service program in Semanan Urban Village, DKI Jakarta, aimed to enhance residents' capacity for AI-based urban farming to strengthen food security, digital literacy, and community empowerment. Activities included socialization, training, technology implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The program successfully improved community knowledge and technical skills in urban agriculture through AI technologies like soil sensors and automated irrigation, increased digital literacy, and strengthened program sustainability through continuous mentoring and community building.

This study used the K-means clustering algorithm to classify residential areas in Nankai District of Tianjin, China. It proposed differentiated strategies for integrating spatial elements and management mechanisms of urban agriculture in these residential areas and quantitatively assessed the sustainable benefits of updated urban agriculture. The results indicate that differentiated urban agriculture updates in four types of residential areas can significantly improve their sustainable benefits.

This community service program in RW 02 Jepara Village, Surabaya, Indonesia, addressed limited green space and high food dependency by developing communal urban farming. Through participatory approaches including FGDs, limited-land cultivation training, and educational activities for children, the program utilized yards and narrow spaces with polybags for food crops. It demonstrated the effectiveness of using non-productive spaces, contributing to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities), and mitigating negative urbanization impacts.

In Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City, Indonesia, urban farming has been implemented as an alternative to improve food security and economic welfare. However, its implementation faces challenges such as land limitations, lack of access to modern agricultural technology, and low public understanding of its benefits. A descriptive quantitative study using a Likert scale (1-4) found that respondents strongly agreed that urban farming provides social benefits and agreed on its economic and environmental benefits.

This study in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia, examined the role of women farmer groups in optimizing urban home yard utilization for food security through a community-based urban farming approach. Using a quantitative descriptive analysis with 48 respondents, findings indicated that women farmer groups play a moderate role as learning hubs, cooperative platforms, and production units. Key factors influencing their role include age, farming experience, participation levels, leadership, agricultural extension support, and government involvement.

A community service program in Berkah Family Village Housing, Kubang Jaya Village, Indonesia, used a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach to enhance urban household food self-sufficiency. The program provided training in vertical hydroponics, organic waste processing, and e-commerce, increasing participants' knowledge and skills in these areas significantly. A single hydroponic tower yielded 7.2–14 kg per cycle with substantial income potential, and 20 households learned to process kitchen waste into liquid fertilizer.

This community service program empowered the Sumber Harapan Farmers Group in Padang City, Indonesia, by applying BUDIKDAMBER (Fish Cultivation in Buckets) technology. The program, which included socialization, training, and mentoring, equipped the group with skills in integrating catfish cultivation with vegetable crops. Knowledge and skills of the farmers group increased from 20% to 87.31%, demonstrating the technology's effectiveness in enhancing participation and food security.

This community service activity aimed to strengthen green economic capacity and social entrepreneurship among 42 micro-enterprise partners across four clusters (culinary, crafts/recycling, urban farming, digital creative services) in Medan City over six months. The participatory mentoring approach, including training and technical assistance, resulted in an increase in average monthly turnover for all business clusters. Partner competency scores also improved across six dimensions, with the highest increases in green economy understanding and waste management/recycling.

This study evaluated the growth of three Indonesian garlic varieties (Lumbu Sembalun, Lumbu Kuning, Lumbu Hijau) intercropped with yard-long beans as a living shade crop at Sriwijaya University's Greenhouse from July to November 2025. Lumbu Hijau and Lumbu Kuning showed superior growth characteristics, including higher germination and more vigorous early vegetative growth, compared to Lumbu Sembalun. Specifically, Lumbu Hijau exhibited significantly greater shoot length, leaf number, relative chlorophyll content, bulb diameter, and total fresh biomass four weeks after planting.

A community empowerment program in Cisalam Village, Serang Regency, Indonesia, provided knowledge and education on fish cultivation in gallons (BUDIGALON) and water spinach planting. This initiative aimed to address food shortages and promote healthy living due to the community's reliance on rain-fed rice fields. An evaluation showed that participants' knowledge and understanding of these practices increased by an average of 63%.

This qualitative study examined urban farming practices in seven major Indonesian cities, using participant observation, 52 in-depth interviews, and seven focus group discussions with urban farmers. Findings indicate that the resilience and sustainability of urban farming are shaped by collective affective infrastructures, social solidarity, and non-commodified community relations, rather than solely economic motivations or formal policies. Urban farming produces social, ecological, and symbolic value beyond market outcomes, contributing to food security, community resilience, and spatial justice.

This study in Bogor City, Indonesia, identified agricultural landscapes in six districts and around farmer groups' gardens, analyzing environmentally friendly urban agriculture practices and benefits. Data from 40 farmer groups and Sentinel-2 image analysis showed South Bogor had the largest agricultural land (10.70%) and Central Bogor the smallest (0.04%). While farmer groups adopted environmentally friendly systems, the application of technologies faced challenges related to cost and technical knowledge.

This study designed two systems to support food sovereignty in Semarang, Indonesia: a sensor-based urban farming system for real-time plant condition monitoring with automatic nutrient supply and pH adjustment, and a digital local trading application for direct sales of local produce to consumers and searching for nearby urban farmers. The research was conducted through observation studies, deep interviews, and literature reviews.

This study examined catalysts and constraints of urban agriculture (UA) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, collecting data from 124 urban farmers across 20 wards in 2024 using mixed methods. Catalysts were categorized as socio-economic benefits, ecosystem services, and fitness and well-being, with fitness and well-being being the most influential. Constraints included institutional barriers like lack of timely information and socio-economic challenges such as poor soil fertility.

Farmers in clusters like Saswad, Mulshi, and Narayangaon previously lost 30–40% of value due to logistical delays and intermediary margins. This scientometric and qualitative analysis investigated how temperature was addressed in 244 urban agriculture documents from 2020-2025, with 20 articles having high thematic relevance. Research showed a strong concentration in Asia-Pacific countries and rapid expansion after 2022. Studies were classified into open (15%), building-integrated (30%), and fully controlled indoor systems (55%), with the latter focusing on high-technology. Temperature-focused studies remain limited, revealing gaps in empirical validation and multi-scale integration.

The participating farmer group showed great enthusiasm, leading to extensive Q&A sessions.

This community service program, conducted on April 11, 2026, at Pamulang Permai Housing, South Tangerang, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of 20 local women in cultivating mustard greens. Implemented by 10 lecturers from Pamulang University, the program used lectures, hands-on practice, discussions, and Q&A sessions. Results indicated a significant improvement in participants' understanding of cultivation techniques and their ability to apply these practices independently, contributing to increased awareness of household food security and promoting sustainable urban farming.

This community service program, conducted on August 10, 2025, in Taraban Village, Indonesia, with 31 participants, provided training on aquaponics cultivation technology for limited land to improve the economy and food security of residents. Results showed partners learned cultivation, directly practiced aquaponics technology, experienced food sufficiency with chemical-free plant and animal protein, and could improve family economy. 65% of the participants who attended the training were able to create an aquaponic system.

This qualitative comparative study in Sleman Regency and Magelang Regency, Indonesia, analyzed food security conditions and the strategic role of women using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and document studies. Magelang Regency demonstrated superior food availability but faced significant challenges in economic access due to poverty, while Sleman Regency excelled in food access but experienced vulnerability in local availability due to massive agricultural land conversion. Women's roles differed according to regional context, with on-farm activities predominant in rural Magelang and off-farm roles including home-garden utilization in suburban Sleman.

This study used a descriptive quantitative approach to examine how agricultural extension contributes to institutional development in KWT Sahabat Sampah, a women-led urban farming group in Bekasi City, Indonesia. Data were collected from all 35 members via structured questionnaires, field observation, and interviews with the extension agent. Results indicated that extension support was consistently rated high across six dimensions, especially facilitation, and institutional development indicators were strong, but economic sustainability remained constrained. A significant association (ρ = 0.678, p < 0.01) was found between extension intensity and institutional development.

This study implemented and analyzed an Integrated Urban Farming System (IUFS) model on a limited 100 m² land area in Sukapura Village, Bandung City, Indonesia. Using descriptive-analytical and limited experimental methods over one production cycle, the IUFS model integrated hydroponics, Nile tilapia aquaculture, and local chicken farming. Results indicated that the hydroponic system achieved high and stable vegetable productivity, with tilapia pond water substituting liquid organic fertilizer without reducing crop yield. The tilapia and chicken subsystems demonstrated good growth performance and improved feed efficiency, forming an effective nutrient cycle overall.
