Overview
A community garden opened in 2020 by the local council of Panama City's Don Bosco district. A demonstration nursery beside the Los Robles community house teaches neighbours to grow food and to start their own home gardens. It began under the 'Don Bosco Verde' environmental programme, aimed at food security during the pandemic and at responsible consumption.
Citizen participation
A neighbourhood community garden launched in 2020 by the Don Bosco local council (junta comunal) and reported as the first of its kind in Panama City. A demonstration nursery sits beside the community house; participants sign up through an online form, take virtual training, and apply what they learn in their own home gardens.
Operating model
Operated as one strand of the council's 'Don Bosco Verde' environmental programme, which also covers sustainable community gardens, home gardens, reforestation and recycling. Its aim is household food security and responsible consumption rather than selling produce.
Impact
At the time of reporting the project was at its launch stage, with online registration and training planned as the first phase for spreading home gardens. Later quantitative results such as participant numbers or yields could not be verified.

At the public-corporation rental complex Chayamadai Danchi in Senboku New Town, Sakai, Osaka, the Osaka Prefectural Housing Supply Corporation runs the 'Hibikiau Danchi Life' regeneration project.
