Overview
A vegetable plaza in the rooftop Roof Garden of Tokyu's Futako-Tamagawa Rise redevelopment, where local schoolchildren and kindergarteners grow vegetables pesticide-free from sowing to harvest. A community-participation food-education garden built into a station-front redevelopment.
Citizen participation
Second-graders from the local Futako-Tamagawa Elementary School plant peanuts, sweet potatoes and pumpkins as part of their 'life-environment studies', taking weekly turns to water and weed. Grown pesticide-free, the plot teaches children about food by letting them watch crops grow even as insects nibble them; nearby kindergartens also join, with harvest festivals and local-shop collaborations planned.

Built as the rooftop garden of Tokyu's 'Futako-Tamagawa Rise' redevelopment; the vegetable plaza is opened free as a community food-education space, with cultivation supported by a landscaping firm.
