Overview
Originated as 'Jakarta Berkebun' from an October 2010 Twitter call by architect Ridwan Kamil and collaborators. The first planting on 20 February 2011 drew about 150 people, and the movement spread to 14 cities within six months, becoming a national urban-farming community network.
Citizen participation
Citizens and communities jointly cultivate unused urban vacant lots. Born from a social-media call to action, volunteers gather to plant and harvest in a participatory movement.
Operating model
Volunteer-based non-profit community movement, sustained through donations, land-loan arrangements with owners, and sharing or selling of harvests.
Impact
Spread a nationwide model of citizen-led use of idle urban land and raised environmental awareness, spawning chapters in many cities and campuses. A symbolic flagship of Indonesia's urban-farming movement.

The flagship example of the R-Urban strategy, turning vacant suburban land near Paris into citizen-run agro-cultural hubs. AgroCité, combining urban agriculture, recycling and low-energy building, was born in Colombes, dismantled in 2017 to make way for a car park, and rebuilt in Gennevilliers after a residents' campaign. It is internationally known as a model of the urban commons.
