Velký háj community garden (Krč, Prague 4, Czechia)

A community garden opened on about five hectares of unused grassland beside the Velký háj woods in Krč, Prague 4. Inaugurated on 13 May 2026, it is described as the largest of its kind not only in Prague but in Czechia. Dozens of fruit trees and bushes have been planted, along with raised beds, a tool container and a fire pit; a wildflower meadow and vegetable plots are planned.

Work began in April 2026 and the garden opened on 13 May 2026. Around 150 people had registered interest by the opening ceremony, with numbers still rising.

The land is owned by the Vojta family; the nonprofit KOKOZA and the Prague 4 district jointly developed and run the garden.

A large tract of dormant grassland on the city's edge was turned into a place for growing and gathering by the district, a nonprofit and the landowner together. At five hectares, the site has room for orchard, meadow, composting and beekeeping in one place rather than only divided plots.
