Parc Bertrand urban vegetable garden (Geneva, Switzerland)

A citizens' vegetable garden opened in 2024 inside Parc Bertrand in the City of Geneva, with 255 m² of cultivable surface divided into plots. It was initiated by Le cardon enchanté, an association of neighbourhood residents. Over roughly the past twenty years nearly 80 collective vegetable garden projects have emerged in the city, turning lawns, planter boxes and fallow spaces in residential neighbourhoods into places of exchange and sharing. Because putting a garden on municipal land requires a formal request to the City, it is an example of resident initiative meshing with an administrative route. Switzerland was previously represented here only by Les Jardins de Cocagne in Geneva and Quartierhof Wynegg in Zurich, so this adds a small plot-based garden inside a public park.
