Overview
A city-driven urban-farming programme. Through frameworks such as 'KASUR BOYO' (Kampung Sayur Suroboyo), the DKPP supports residents across kampungs in producing vegetables, fruit, fish and livestock on limited urban space for food security, greening and organic-waste management.
Citizen participation
Kampung resident groups and farmer groups grow vegetables and fruit on limited land, in polybags and pots, with training in household composting and organic methods, run collectively by residents.
Operating model
Public programme led by the city food-security and agriculture department; resident groups consume and sell produce, including at 'Bazaar Tani' market events, oriented toward a circular-economy model.
Impact
Vegetable villages and community gardens have spread across the city, expanding green space and strengthening solidarity. Training and bazaars contribute to household food self-sufficiency and income.
