Overview

A group of municipal citizens' farms run by Nagasaki City to reuse abandoned farmland and deepen urban residents' understanding of agriculture. At the Hirayama, Mie and Takashima farms and Kinkai-Akamizu Fureai Farm, residents experience planting and harvesting, opened since fiscal 2000 under a family-garden method.

Urban residents experience planting and harvesting on plots at citizens' farms, deepening their understanding of agriculture. Opened by making use of abandoned farmland, they serve as accessible recreational spaces where residents engage with farming.

Operating model

Municipal citizens' farms run by Nagasaki City through its agriculture promotion division and agriculture centre. Since fiscal 2000 it has used abandoned farmland under a family-garden method, offering plots to residents as a public service.

Hinosato Danchi 'Satozukuri 48' (Hinosato Farm / Hinosato 48)
