In Kalisegoro Gunungpati Village, Semarang City, Indonesia, mothers involved in urban farming and women farmers' groups received guidance on cultivating butterfly pea, post-harvest processing, and online marketing using the Smart Telang information system. This program transformed previously unproductive yards into well-arranged butterfly pea gardens, yielding an average of 1-2 kg of fresh flowers per member per month from October to December 2024. The harvested butterfly pea was dried and processed into "Wedang Telang" for immediate brewing and sale.

The Adiwiyata School program, an Indonesian government initiative, encourages schools to implement sustainability and environmental protection principles, focusing on waste management, energy saving, and natural resource use. Schools targeted by the program are very enthusiastic about its phased implementation. Successful implementation requires local government policies, rewards for schools, strong commitment from all stakeholders, and good cooperation and synergy among related parties.

This study provides a systematic literature review using PRISMA to analyze the ecological, social, and educational benefits of edible landscapes in universities. Research has shown that introducing edible landscapes can improve campus sustainability, educational content, and community engagement. This helps to improve ecological diversity and environmental quality on campuses, enhances awareness and participation of teachers and students in sustainable development, and promotes community identity and social cohesion.

This study aims to enhance the psychomotor skills of young children, who are often restricted to indoor activities due to rapid technological evolution and unsupportive environments. Researchers at Elementary School 5 Pering in Pering Village are designing aesthetically pleasing outdoor areas to improve these skills. Employing a qualitative research methodology, the study emphasizes spiritual, moral, physical, intellectual, emotional, and artistic aspects, with the final product being a site layout based on the "active and continuous" theme.

This project aimed to develop and install an optimized aquaponics system at the School of Engineering, Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP). The three-floor vertical garden includes two tanks with approximately 2,000 liters of water for fish, three flower boxes, and over 120 positions for growing vegetables. Pedagogical activities involving students from various ISEP courses were also developed in conjunction with this project.

This study investigated 30 Agricultural Science teachers across 17 secondary schools in East Berbice Corentyne, Guyana, regarding their perceptions of school gardens. Findings showed that students in school gardening activities were more inclined towards agricultural careers and had an enhanced understanding of practical agriculture. School gardens also facilitated interdisciplinary learning, connecting agricultural science with other subjects.

This qualitative case study examined the role of MIM Kalikuning 2 Pacitan, Indonesia, in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit with a green economy concept. Using interviews, observation, and documentation, the study found that the madrasa contributes positively to raising environmental awareness, developing sustainable entrepreneurial skills, strengthening relationships, and teaching social activities. Its role includes implementing an environmentally based curriculum, developing green school gardens, and establishing community partnerships.

This cross-sectional study investigated the profile of healthy eating habits among 45 community garden producers in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil, referencing the "10 Steps to Healthy Eating" from the Brazilian Dietary Guidelines. The dietary profile of the producers was considered inadequate; while 97.78% followed the water consumption guideline, only 4.44% followed the guideline for milk/meat/eggs consumption and 6.67% for fruits/vegetables consumption. No participant followed all 10 steps, and a better socioeconomic level was associated with healthier behaviors.

Shenzhen Polytechnic University established a “vertical farm” within its “one-stop” student community to create a labor practice base for students. This system was built through deep cooperation with modern agricultural science and technology enterprises in Shenzhen, close ties with the School of Communication Engineering's advantageous majors, and integration of labor instructor resources. It integrates six labor practice projects, including agricultural production, volunteer service, and environmental construction, offering theory and practice in urban “carbon neutral” strategies and modern agricultural knowledge.

This case study unveils the social curriculum and community farm practices at Escuelita Semillera, an adult agroecological school initiative located on the premises of the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras. Maintained by students and alumni for 14 years, this community garden offered free in-person classes to 50 participants in 2022 and 2023. The research shows how its social curriculum fosters a transition from personal care to community and ecological care, highlighting the vital role of care in adult agroecological education.

A community service program (PKM) for students and teachers at SD Negeri 69 Barru in Indonesia aimed to provide knowledge and skills for cultivating plants through a simple hydroponic system utilizing plastic waste. This program served as part of urban farming and 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) concept education, creating educational facilities for students. The activity resulted in improved participant knowledge and skills in hydroponics, provided urban farming, hydroponics, and 3R learning facilities for the school, fostered 3R awareness through plastic waste utilization, and created green open spaces for student education.

This qualitative-quantitative study characterized school gardens in public education networks across twenty-four municipalities in Brazil's Serra Gaúcha region using a semi-structured questionnaire. Data revealed most schools were located in urban areas, predominantly served elementary school students during the daytime, and lacked guidance from qualified professionals and agroecological management for their gardens. Based on these findings, four educational brochures on agroecological techniques were developed for elementary students.

This study developed and validated the Functional Health Literacy Survey for School Gardening (FHLS-SG) using 31 questions administered to 651 children in grades K-4 in the United States. The FHLS-SG demonstrated statistically significant reliability (Cronbach’s alpha 0.69-0.84, test-retest 0.59-0.81). Health literacy showed small to medium mediation effects on relationships between individual, environmental, and behavioral factors in school gardening, particularly between the garden environment and the individual (M = 0.36).

A community service program was implemented in Pananjung Village, Pangandaran Regency, Indonesia, providing training to homemakers. The program offered instruction on organic waste management through composting and eco-enzyme production, as well as the application of urban farming in limited spaces. Participants learned techniques for processing kitchen waste into compost and eco-enzymes for natural fertilizer, and planting seeds like chili and tomato using recycled materials as planting media. This training aimed to equip participants with practical skills and increase their awareness of waste reduction and the importance of utilizing small plots for food security.

This study implemented an urban farming pilot project in the courtyard of the Daruth Tayyibah Mosque in Pahandut Seberang Subdistrict, Palangka Raya City, Indonesia. Using qualitative methods, the project aimed to encourage riverside communities to grow vegetables in their yards for daily needs and potential business opportunities. Initial activities included discussions with community leaders and outreach to women regarding hydroponics.

This small-scale pilot study investigated the impact of children's involvement in a rural community garden in Ireland on their and their families' eating habits. Using a qualitative design, semi-structured interviews gathered parents' perspectives on their children's eating habits before and after participation. The study indicated that children's involvement in a community garden positively impacted their social development, confidence, and food awareness, alongside a noticeable influence on the family's general healthy food consumption. Further research with more participants is needed for more accurate data.

This project, commissioned by the Collaborative Evaluation and Research Centre (CERC), explored how nature improved the recovery of remote and rural communities affected by bushfires in East Gippsland, Australia. Data were collected from June to September 2023 through a nature-based community recovery project survey and community interviews. Phase 1 evaluated grant-funded projects, while Phase 2 investigated how broader communities interacted with nature for healing after the 2019-2020 bushfires.

This study addressed the limited economic impact of tourism in Kelan Tourism Village, Bali, due to reliance on external vegetable purchases despite available land. The solution implemented was an edutourism program featuring a Biofloc Aquaponics Integrated Urban Farming Model and Drip Irrigation Vegetable Garden Tilapia, targeting students, tourists, and the community. Implementation led to increased understanding, knowledge, and skills among target groups, and culinary tourism participants experienced increased income from self-produced vegetables, alongside strengthened environmental conservation.

The Community Empowerment Program in Kelan Traditional Village, Badung Regency, Bali, aimed to develop the village into an environmentally friendly and resilient tourist village. Activities focused on household liquid organic fertilizer (POC) management, enhancing community capacity in organic farming (hydroponics and aquaponics), and strengthening the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). Participants showed significant improvements in understanding, knowledge, and skills, with 90% able to produce quality POC. These activities contributed to improved village environmental quality, the creation of new economic opportunities, and the development of new edutourism products.

This paper described and analyzed the social relations emerging from an adult education internship and community-based garden project in Montreal, Canada. Using institutional ethnography, it uncovered how adult education internships in community gardens and gardening programming can produce disproportionate outcomes for adult learners, community workers, and community members. It elucidated that specific institutional contrivances, such as funding, policy, work processes, and discourse, structure and define who experiences access to gardens, gardening, its ostensible health and well-being benefits, and adult education.

This action research study introduces the Sustainable Parental Resources of Organic Urban Teaching (SPROUT) innovation, aimed at upgrading the livelihood sustainability of parents participating in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the Philippines. SPROUT supports parents in growing organic produce for personal consumption and potential income generation through sustainable agriculture practices and urban gardening techniques. This approach has the potential to enhance families' nutritional status, promote environmental stewardship, and encourage a shift towards healthier, sustainable lifestyles.

In Bendan Duwur Village, Gajahmungkur District, Semarang City, Indonesia, an urban farming training program was implemented to utilize vacant land and promote food security. The program involved socialization, discussions, and distribution of horticultural seeds to participants. The training received positive responses, with participants reporting aesthetic, health, and economic benefits, and non-participants showing interest in adopting urban farming. Residents who implemented the program reduced their vegetable purchases from markets.

This study aimed to empower PKK (Family Welfare Movement) in Indonesia by providing urban farming knowledge and techniques, utilizing yards, narrow lands, and plastic waste to increase family income. Extension, training, and mentoring on static and non-static hydroponic cultivation techniques were conducted, and hydroponic systems such as verticulture using polybags, DFT (Deep Film Technique), floating raft, and verticulture were developed. These activities contributed to improving skills and knowledge in cultivating hydroponic vegetables using plastic waste and increasing income.
